Mother’s Banana Bread

orange zest
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°.

In a large bowl or mixer, mix sugar, shortening, and eggs until well blended.

Add the mashed bananas.

Add the dry ingredients. Mix well and add nuts and/or orange zest, if you wish.

Put into greased loaf pan, bake at 350° for about 1 hour. Check for doneness right in the center (it should not be doughy or sticky at all, but moist). Remove from pans to cool so the bread doesn't get soggy.
