Instructions
- Rub both sides of meat with garlic, cut meat into strips 1 1/2" x 1". Mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, add meat strips, toss lightly. Reserve remaining flour mixture.
- Heat Crisco in heavy skillet, add meat and brown well; add onion, cook until onions are transparent. Add remaining flour mixture, consommé, water, and mushrooms. Cover and cook slowly until meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Remove cover, cook until mixture thickens slightly. Add sour cream and chives, blend.
- Serve over hot cooked noodles.
Notes
To de-calorize, spray skillet with Pam and cut way back on the Crisco; you can also substitute fat-free yogurt for the sour cream.
