  • Season meat with salt and pepper, brown in drippings.
  • Remove meat, add 1 c. water to the pan. Heat and mix with remaining ingredients in Dutch oven (or heavy pot).
  • Add spare ribs, cook on top of stove or in oven 1 1/2 hour. (Bring to a boil, cook slowly until spare ribs fall apart.)
  • Serve with sauce poured over ribs or in pitcher alongside.
